Values are not recomputed: they are taken from the source as they stand. The formula is used for checking — the database flags a value that disagrees with it.
Where the figures come from
Net migration estimate (estimated net migration) is calculated from the fundamental equation of the demographic balance (balancing equation) as the difference between the total variation in the population size during a calendar year (from January 1 to December 31) and the natural variation (the difference between the number of births and the number of deaths) during the same period. Thus, this indicator could include a statistical adjustment if this adjustment is made, but its value is not officially communicated. If the statistical adjustment value is known, or if it is taken into account in the estimation of the population at the end of the year, then the estimated net migration equals the real migration variation.
